Last week, Oberlin was graced by the return of Professor Ari Ofengenden, the director of the Hebrew Program at George Washington University in Washington, DC. At Oberlin, Professor Ofengenden taught Hebrew and Jewish literature classes, and was a vibrant part of our community.

His  return visit, sponsored by Oberlin’s student Zionist organization (JAG), featured several talks on Israeli politics and culture, as well as the problems with and consequences of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement. He also participated on a campus-wide panel discussion with several other distinguished professors on the topic, attended by nearly 100 students of all backgrounds and opinions.
